Dating back to the Vedic period, Indian Classical Music has evolved through a cultural synthesis of several musical streams - predominantly vedic, Persian, and folk. Contemporary music is based on a rich milieu of genres dating as far back as the 12th century, in an expansive canvas comprising today's Northern India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Afghanistan. From Khayal to Tarana, Thumri to Ghazal, Sufi to Bhajan (and more), Melange - as the name suggests - is a hand-picked assortment of the genres that enrich this musical tradition of India.
