ICMA is excited to bring to you two unique musical voyage and experience Indian Classical Music in two rather diverse settings - Indian Jazz Journey at the Stanford Jazz Festival and Abhangwari at the BMM 2024 Convention!
An incredibly popular annual jazz event, Indian Jazz Journey with Mahesh Kale and George Brooks is a captivating encounter between Indian classical and Western jazz musical traditions. Renowned vocalist Mahesh Kale, beloved for his intensely expressive and versatile singing, blends intricate Indian ragas and rhythms with the improvisational spirit of Jazz. His musical collaborator George Brooks’ soulful saxophone and deep understanding of Indian music create a dynamic dialogue between the two genres. Their melodies soar in unison over the rhythmic landscape of traditional Indian instruments and the Jazz rhythm section, creating a tapestry of sound that is both familiar and unexpected.
