ROOTNOTE
Living Tradition
ROOTNOTE is an initiative built around a simple idea: Indian classical music should not feel distant, intimidating, or confined to the concert stage. It can be lived, shared, practiced, and enjoyed as a natural part of everyday life. It is a space where melody meets joy, rhythm meets energy, and commitment finds expression. A space for people brought together not by decorum, hierarchy, or labels, but by a shared intent — to listen deeply, practice sincerely, make music, and keep growing.
For musicians who are putting in the work, ROOTNOTE creates a warm, welcoming platform to present their music. For hobbyists, it creates a place to participate, sing along, and stay connected. And for those who are simply curious, it offers an open doorway into the tradition.
At its heart, ROOTNOTE is about creating continuity — giving purpose to practice, an outlet to hard work, and a simple, sustainable joy that keeps music alive in people’s lives. Through intimate performances, shared musical experiences, and community participation, ROOTNOTE seeks to make Indian classical music feel not merely preserved, but lived.
*ROOTNOTE is a free initiative supported by ICMA, MKSM, and local partners.
The first ROOTNOTE event will happen on September 25th 2026 in Bengaluru in collaboration with SAMA. Please find the details and registration form below.
